The estate

This wine from the Margaux appellation, located in Cantenac, took the name of «Massac» already in the 19th century. Following the bankruptcy of John Levis Brown and the sale of his possessions, the 50 acres of Brown were divided among several buyers, among them Mr Darquier, who created «Latour Massac», which vineyard was located at a place named «La Tour».

The wine «Latour-Massac» is mentioned in the second edition of Cooks’s book «Bordeaux and its wines» published in 1868. Jean Elie succeeded his father-in-law Pierre Darquier in 1893. His descendants are still at the head of the Château.
